You Can Ride a Piece of History on a Bianchi Vintage Bike

If you love the idea of owning a classic, well-made bicycle, then you have a wide variety of vintage Bianchi bikes to choose from on eBay. Bianchi is one of the oldest bicycle manufacturing companies currently in operation, having been founded in Italy in 1885. Their bikes are elegant, often colorful, and fun to ride and display.

What are some preferences you might consider when purchasing a vintage Bianchi bike?

As you search through the many classic and vintage Bianchi bikes for sale on eBay, you will have to consider your preferences regarding:

  • Wheel size
  • Whether a bike has original paint and decals
  • Type of derailleur
  • Type of seat
  • Height of standover
  • Measurements of seat, top, and head tubes

Another thing to think about is the paint color. This is one of the features that immediately stands out on many bikes. There are several Bianchi models that come in the Celeste color, which is somewhere in between a sky blue and mint green. Bianchi celeste bikes are iconic and have come to represent the company.

Classic Bianchi bikes from the 1970s

There are many bikes from this decade for sale. A 1970s Bianchi road bike will likely have a steel frame, Campagnolo gearing, and a NOS chain. Rims and brakes could be made by Campagnolo, Universal, Mavic, or another company. Pedals may or may not be included.

Older bikes

Since the company has a long history in the field, there might be bikes on eBay that are over 50 years old. A 1960 Bianchi bike could be valuable if in good condition. The Specialissima is a well-known model first released in 1958 as a successor to the Campione del Mondo model that was made to celebrate a championship victory in 1952.

Vintage Bianchi road bikes versus mountain bikes

Road bikes are much narrower than mountain bikes, which include the Bianchi Super Grizzly. On a road bike, you will sit with your back pushed down towards a horizontal position. Old Bianchi road bikes like the Campione del Mondo usually come with drop handlebars to help you ride in a more aerodynamic way. On a mountain bike, the angle of the tubes and the handlebars allow you to be more upright. This can improve stability. One other difference lies in what types of tires these bikes have. Mountain bike tires are knobby and wide to give you traction off the pavement. Road bikes have thinner profiles to improve your speed.
