The Lexus ES300 model disc braking system begins to operate when the driver presses the braking pedal inside of the vehicle. This causes the master cylinder to pump fluid to the calipers of the car. A stationary caliper is designed to mount in one position near the wheel of a vehicle. A floating caliper sits on pins mounted to the braking system rotor. The pins give the caliper the ability to move from side to side across the rotor and offer a free range of motion when braking.
