Jordan 5 Retro SE Solar Orange: A Fusion of Legacy and Modern Design

The Air Jordan 5 Retro SE Solar Orange was unveiled in 2020, marking the 30th anniversary of the classic silhouette. This design is a tapestry woven from some of the most coveted Air Jordan 5s of years gone by.

The right shoe dons the vibrant yellow-suede upper from the limited Tokyo edition, punctuated by a stylized "23" on the heel. In contrast, the left shoe features the fiery red suede from the Raging Bull pack, highlighted by the Shanghai emblem. Infused in this design are hints of other iconic Jordan 5 versions, like the Bel-Air, Laser, and Quai 54.

Both shoes in the pair feature black laces, and you'll find Ghost Green accents on the outsoles. The right shoe has a Solar Orange Jumpman on the tongue, and the tongue on the left shoe has a Ghost Green Jumpman. Both shoes feature mesh panels on the sides.

Beneath the vibrant play of colors and textures lies Nike's signature technology and craftsmanship. Crafted with full-grain and suede leathers, the upper of the sneaker boasts a premium look and feel.

Nike's signature Air technology cushions each step, offering a combination of pressurized air and lightweight, resilient cushioning that returns to its original shape after impact. Additional features, like the bump-out collar, high padded tongue, and embroidered logos, marry function with aesthetics.

Designer Tinker Hatfield debuted the Jordan 5 in 1990. The sneaker was inspired by American World War II fighter jets, which took to the skies with fierce shark-toothed grins. It's this spirit of battle that Hatfield infused into the Retro 5, creating the shark tooth symbol, a zig-zagged emblem that takes pride of place on the midsole.
